I bring to my work a commitment to help people create the lives that they want. Therapy is a co-creative process wherein you and I work together to help you choose what will work for you in your life. The therapeutic relationship becomes a place to heal and remove old patterns of behavior and limiting thinking that no longer help you. Therapy sessions are safe, supportive, and yet challenging. I incorporate knowledge and skills from different psychological foundations: client-centered, transpersonal, family systems and phenomenological. I understand symptoms as the individual’s creativity in dealing with often overwhelming emotional pain. I am trained in a variety of techniques. “Talk therapy” helps individuals verbally express themselves, includes cognitive work, psycho-educational, connecting and validating work, and asserting oneself. Expressive therapies help you move into feeling states, reconnect with your inner resources, and express yourself. Relaxation develops breathing and imagery skills that help with managing stress and unwanted negative emotional states, helps you reconnect with inner resources, and helps you stay grounded and present in your life. EMDR is useful for both healing old pain, including removing negative thoughts and belief systems, and strengthening & installing positive emotional states such as competence, mastery, contentment, joy. I love to learn and together, we will decide what course of therapy will work best for you.
